Fun for the whole family!

Have you heard about the “Incest Couple” story that’s sweeping the nation lately? No? Where have you been living, in an art-deco cave this side of Bradbury? Wether you’ve heard it or not, it’s absolutely hilarious! It’s become fodder for debate, is it wrong to sleep with your dad? Is it normal to get a raging boner for your daughter? I don’t have the answer to these questions, but I do enjoy listening to the arguments that ensue once they’re posed.

The general concencus, I’ve found, is that it’s terribly wrong and immoral to sleep with anyone closely related to you, and if you happen to have conceive because you couldn’t keep your pants on then that child will, naturally, be ridiculed untill they either kill themselves or their parents, or change their name and leave the country. This is what I’ve managed to glean from the comments left on Jenny Deaves’ written statement on the Sixty Minutes blog by the readers. Pure comedy gold! I haven’t read all the comments yet, but I really hope some fundies crawl out of the woodwork and lay some hilarious biggotry on the table.

Honestly, I find it a bit weird that this woman wanted to sleep with her own father, but I’m trying to keep something of an open mind about it. I mean, my dad is a bit of a looker, yes, he’s a total spunk, but although I will admit that my dad is adorable and handsome I don’t ever want to sleep with him. Sorry dad, but I like to believe that, despite my many shortcommings, I could still manage to find someone to sleep with who isn’t a blood relation. I think my odds are pretty good actually, there’s plenty of desperate men in this city who’ll take what they can get, and compared to the manky looking prostitues in Kings Cross I start to look like a pretty good catch (Well… I think I do!)

What about their child though? What about poor little Celeste? Not only has she been unfortunately named after Babar’s wife, but herfather is also her grandfather. As if that wasn’t enough for the poor kid to be dealing with, but now her silly parent’s have gone on national TV to make a statement about how they’re a father-daughter couple in a sexual relationship, and they’re in “wuv”! (i.e: “Love”) Ok, that was pretty sarcastic, and it may have undermined my previous statement about trying to keep an open mind, but it just boggles the mind that these adults have brought a child into the world who is going to have to suffer torment and ridicule for the rest of her life, and she’s not even in preschool yet!

All in all though, it’s a funny story that’s really gotten people talking about a hilarious subject. Incest: It’s fun for the whole family!
